Peel and Stick Glyphs (Metamagic) Feat

This feat allows casters to create their own glyphs and determine what will cause the glyphs to trigger. Clerics and Druids may choose this feat as well as all arcane spell casters.

Prerequisite
Scribe Scroll feat, Caster must be at least 3rd level

Game Rules

  • Any spell (Divine or Arcane) can be cast into a Peel and Stick Glyph.
  • The action that will trigger the glyph must be determined when the glyph is created.
  • It can be any action that can be described in 10 words or less.
  • Peel and Stick glyphs can be quite small, but they are visible and have a magic aura.
  • Use of Read Magic allows a reader to understand what spell is contained in the glyph as well as how the glyph is triggered.
  • Using this feat adds one hour to the casting time of the spell, and requires an available spell slot two levels higher than the spell cast.
  • Other metamagic feats can be included in a spell cast into a Peel and Stick glyph.
  • Creating a glyph incurs an XP cost exactly as if creating a scroll (see Scribe Scroll feat)
  • All prerequisites for any spell being cast into the glyph still apply.

    Examples

  • Casting Shocking Grasp into a Peel and Stick glyph inscribed on an arrow, with the trigger action “Whenever this arrow is fired and hits something” will take one hour, use up a third level spell slot, and result in an arrow that does 1d8+1 electrical damage in addition to normal damage. If created by a 5th level caster, the glyph would cost 15 XP to prepare. If the Shocking Grasp spell was first Maximized, it would use up a 5th level spell slot and add 9 points of damage instead of 1d8+1. If created by a 9th level caster it would cost 45 XP.
  • A glyph created with the trigger action “Whenever someone within 10 feet casts Read Magic” will create a nasty trap for a snooping mage.
